Gyre (Endless Cycle)

Gyre (Endless Cycle)

A version of this sculpture includes a proposed water feature - “GYRE” - a life sized American Bald Eagle lands on its jumbled and open nest, revealing the eagle clearly from below and beyond. It connects the eagle securely to a gleaming bronze column of salmon writhing upwards to a rounded lip from which water emerges, creating a shapely current of water which cascades over the low-relief salmon into a rocky basin below. The water is recycled to the top of the column to spill over the lip in an endless cycle - Salmon and Eagle - GYRE of the Pacific Northwest ecosystem. This proposed piece is 12-feet high, tall enough to be fully visible from ground level.
